STAS COMPETITION – BIENNALE INTERNATIONALE DESIGN SAINT-ETIENNE
UNESCO City of Design Saint-Etienne have launched an exciting global competition open to students studying at design universities from all 31 UNESCO Cities of Design which includes us! They are asking for proposals designing the exterior of one of the Saint-Etienne trams, which will be put into service during the 11th Biennale Internationale Design Saint-Étienne (launching in March 2019).
Designregio Kortrijk is looking for 3 highly motivated and recently graduated designer-makers or creative artists to join in a regional residency programme in Kortrijk, Belgium.
UNESCO City of Design are looking for designers, musicians, makers and creatives of all types to work on a Year of Young People event, supported by the Year of Young People Event Fund.

The co-organisers of the UNESCO Creative Cities Annual Meeting invite project proposals from designers in Dundee that will be curated and showcased during the Annual Meeting based around this year’s theme – Creative Crossroads.
Projects submitted can be brand new and specially prepared for the Annual Meeting (such as, for example, collective exhibitions, performances, workshops, installations, screening etc.) or projects that have been ongoing, those that will be continued after the Annual Meeting, or those that have already ended, but results of which cities may wish to present during the Annual Meeting.

The Mexican city of Puebla, which is a fellow UNESCO City of Design, has launched a competition for a designer to create a unique glass to celebrate the Puebla Mezcal, a traditional distilled drink from Mexico.
The Spanish city of Bilbao, a fellow UNESCO City of Design, has launched an open call for fashion designers aged between 18 – 35 years old to submit work for the 6th Bilbao International Art & Fashion competition.
Shenzhen City of Design Promotion Office and Shenzhen City of Design Promotion Association (SDPA) have opened a call for designers to participate in the SDAY award which recognizes successful young designers from UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
The purpose of the award is to reward the efforts of young designers, who, through their creativity, have contributed to the enhancement of environmental sustainability, social and economic development and, above all, quality of lives in cities. The award aims to encourage exchange between young talents from different countries, cooperation between creative cities, and the sharing of experiences and ideas for developing creative and cultural industries. The award also aims to promote the value of design thinking, concepts and products as contributors to the transformation of economies and society.
UNESCO City of Design Shenzhen have announced an open call for the Shenzhen Global Design Award, which aims to recognize and reward outstanding designers, and to strengthen opportunities between designers at home and abroad.
The award aims to discover designers with creativity, vision, foresight, and influence. It also aims to enhance the exchanges and cooperation among all designers from different countries and inspire the industrialization of creative designs as well as the promotion of creative design concept.
The Shenzhen Design Award is supported by the Organizing Committee of the Shenzhen Design Week, and organized by the Shenzhen City of Design Promotion Association (SDPA).
