Photography – Dundee Design Festival

Dundee Design Festival is looking for the following film and photography services for the 2017 event.

We welcome applications from individual photographers at all stages of their careers and also accept applications from creative teams. Full details below, please read the requirements for application carefully – applications which do not follow the requirements will be rejected.

Deadline for applications is Friday 5th May, 5pm.

Please note, that selected photographers will not have exclusive access to the festival. Other photography taking place will include that by specialist press photographers, event photographers and invited publication photographers. Public photography is permitted throughout the festival.

 

Photographer in residence:

To be based in the festival venue from Wednesday 24th – Monday 29th inclusive and cover events including evening activity.

The role of the photographer is: To capture the essence of the festival and convey the activities taking place with imagery that can be used for publications, press, web, social media during the festival period and to promote the festival in the future. To document the exhibits, designers and activity taking place during the festival. Resulting imagery that is suitable for design specific publications and designer portfolios.

It is expected that you will be able to do some editing / preparation of images onsite to be able to quickly provide images for press or promotional needs.

Post festival all images must be provided to Dundee Design Festival in a high resolution JPEG format, by June 10th 2017.

The photographer agrees to give Dundee Design Festival permission to use the images across print and digital platforms and to share them for use by festival partners. All photography will be credited.

 

Instagrammer in residence:

To capture the essence of the festival and convey the atmosphere, activities and energy of the event through your own Instagram profile.

To increase the reach of the Dundee Design Festival through Instagram, generating conversations and interactions.

@DesignDundee will repost images on Instagram but all will be credited to you.

It is not expected that you will be onsite for the full festival, and programme highlights and activities which are likely to have a visual element which would work well on Instagram will be discussed once appointed.

 

Filmmaker in residence:

To be based in the festival venue from Wednesday 24th – Monday 29th inclusive and cover events including evening activity.

The filmmaker’s role is to create short bite-sized films which capture the essence of the festival and convey the activities taking place through film. The role may also include documentation of the exhibits, designers and activity which takes place during the festival. Resulting in film footage that is suitable for design specific publications and designer portfolios.

The festival is particularly interested to hear from filmmakers who enjoy making short pieces suitable for social media and who are comfortable with one take, mobile uploads.

It is essential that some editing / preparation of film will be done onsite to quickly provide film for promotional needs on social media for same day uploads.

The filmmaker agrees to give Dundee Design Festival permission to use the film across digital platforms and to share for use by festival partners. All film will be credited.

 

These roles are paid. Applicants must have their own Public Liability Insurance and be registered self-employed.

 

Dundee Design Festival will provide the following:

· Secure location to keep equipment

· Secure space to set up computers / editing equipment

· Access to high speed broadband

· Access all areas to Dundee Design Festival

· Food / drinks vouchers for festival Refectory

What’s not covered

· Travel and overnight accommodation costs will not be paid for by Dundee Design Festival.

· Parking fees will not be paid for by Dundee Design Festival

· Equipment hire or purchase costs
