Global UNESCO Design Cities Event

On Tues 16th October 6.30 – 8.30pm at the Steeple, we will be hosting a special PechaKucha style night in partnership with Creative Dundee during our sub-network meeting where twenty-two of our sister UNESCO Cities of Design will visit Dundee!

Tickets are now SOLD OUT for this special one-off event where speakers from Kortrijk in Belgium, Shenzhen in China, Puebla in Mexico, Torino in Italy & more will talk about aspects of design which make their cities better to live and work in. However, it will be streamed live on the night and make sure to use #PKN_UNESCO

Stijn Debaillie has been strengthening the Designregio Kortrijk team since 2012, first as project manager now as managing director since 2014. He is a real believer of the city and region. It motivates him to work fully for the city and region within a unique broad partnership of Voka Chamber of Commerce West Flanders, the City of Kortrijk, Intercommunale Leiedal, Howest University College and Biennale Interieur. He was, together with his team and partners, a driving force for joining the UNESCO Creative Cities Network as City of Design. This brings a lot of opportunities for the city and region, also at international level, of which he will make full use of.

Luis A. Gonzalez-Arenal is a Mexican architect with more than forty years of experience and is the founder and principal & CEO of Rearquitectura. Reaquitectura has completed more than 600 design and building assignments for clients from Mexico, the United States, Canada, Germany and Hong Kong and has been a consultant to companies in Denmark, Vietnam and Laos. Luis has been a University Professor for more than thirty years, an Urban Studies PhD Candidate, a former President of the Puebla Institute of Architects and is currently the Innovation & Design Commissioner of the State of Puebla.
