Dundee Design Festival 2017 Info Session
Join us on Wednesday 30th November from 5.30pm for an information session on Dundee Design Festival 2017.
In May 2017 Dundee Design Festival returns to West Ward Works. In its second year, the festival will draw on the rich context of this former print works with the theme ‘Factory Floor’ to explore current trends in making and manufacturing.
The factory still stands as an icon of work, a laboratory of ideas and innovation. But with the demise of traditional manufacturing in many of our major cities and the rise of creativity as one of the most important forms of production, Dundee Design Festival asks what and where are the new factories, those productive spaces that can offer designers flexibility, efficiency and experimentation? More broadly, the festival asks what is the future of work, how do we value it, and how can design make it more visible?
Via a series of dynamic large-scale installations, workshops and a pop-up digital fabrication studio, Dundee Design Festival aims to form an assembly line of creativity throughout the city.
The festival will bring together a mix of local and international talent to describe what making means now and to make legible the tools, materials and processes of contemporary design.
If you’re thinking about a self-directed project you’d like to get off the ground, an exhibition or event you’d like to see take place during the festival, this a great way share and shape your ideas.
